As a parent, one of my greatest joys is watching my two boys compete in sports. The ups, downs, and relentless hard work they put in are shaping them in invaluable ways. Both have embraced the grind, working harder than I ever did at their age, and success has been following.
My oldest, the running back for his high school team, was having a great game when a single misstep changed everything. A loud pop and an awkward landing confirmed our fears: an ACL tear. His season ended, and plans for glory were replaced with surgery and a year of rehab. Thankfully, he’s young and will have more seasons ahead.
It’s been a tough adjustment. For weeks, I felt the weight of his setback—the stark reminder that life throws unexpected challenges our way. But setbacks, however daunting, can’t be the end. We adapt, move forward, and work to get back in the game. My son will, and I know he’ll come back stronger.Until next time,
Bill
